The scam mainly targets newly registered users on OLX.ro or those who have just listed a new product for sale. The attackers immediately make an offer or send a private message asking for the seller’s email address. Under no circumstances should you provide your private information to an unknown third party.
What is private information? It includes: your email address, phone number, full name, postal address and, last but not least, credit card details, which are often requested by malicious actors.
Where to report these attacks:
- First, report the user who sent the message in the first place.
- Then, you may report the email as spam.

What if you’ve submitted your bank information?
- Do not answer any calls asking you to verify the transaction.
- Contact your bank and ask them to stop any payments.
- If you’ve entered your card details into an online form, ask your bank to issue a new card.
