Malware Removal Guide for HitTail Redirects

Last updated: September 21 2021

We noticed many sites are currently flagged as infected. This time, after an expired/abandoned third-party script got exploited – hittail[.]com.

HitTail used to be a SEO service and users were required to place their script .hittail[.]com/mlt.js.
As a result, all sites that still have the script will load unwanted ads and open popups.

More than a thousand sites are currently affected.
